CASE STUDY

Problem Statement

How might we create the checkout process, and at the same time we need to add a catalog for products with personalized t-shirts and caps colors, sizes, etc? Also, we need to choose the gateway payment we are going to use that better fits the online store.

Duration

The duration of this case study will be 2 weeks from research to prototyping.

4 W's

What did you do?

I conducted 4 user interviews with different people to know more about the points of view of each participant on the HOM Designs website.

What did you ask?

Some of the question we conduct to the 4 participants was: ● Have you tried other similar embroidery and printing websites? ● What were your impressions of homdesigns website?● What would you change, add, or remove from this website ?

What they said?

Some of the answers were...● I would like to see a t-shirt and caps color options.● Minimize the text amount on the home page.● Instead of using only one page and scrolling down, I recommend using a page for each section.

What did you learn

I learned that we can offer lots more options to the user like adding images of the t-shirts and caps in different colors so they can see the differences between them. Also, minor things like we use huge pictures and fonts that don't match the design, we need to make a revision on that also.

Conclusion from User Interviews

User 1: Christian

● I like that we can upload files to your website● The website was easy to go through.● YouTube icon is not working, Include a TikTok icon instead.● I would like to see a t-shirt and caps color option.

User 3: Stephanie

● There is a lot of information written on the home page which takes time to read.● The font and color don’t match when used on a mobile, the layout and fonts change. ● It would be good to minimize the text amount on the home page.

User 4: Aaron

● I don't like the way it looks on the website, too square and very simple. ● The worst thing is the mobile pictures are huge and the font doesn't match the website on some pages.● Instead of using only one page and scrolling down, I recommend using a page for every section.

Usability Test

We did a Usability Test to 2 users and this are some feedbacks we had

On the Mobile App in the dashboard we need to add a search bar and/or direct links to all products on sale

Illustration

After the user place an order of the product, we need to add a button so client can be able to upload their files, The files need it to make the embroidery or screen printing for the product client bought.

Illustration

User need to be able to change the information on the place order review page, information like address, shipping information and debit/credit card

Illustration

The hover color of the hamburger menu is not matching the color we used on the mobile app

Final Thoughts

Illustration

To conclude I can say that I learned a lot from HOM designs. I learned that a good categorization of the sections can offer the user an easier and more pleasant user experience. I learned that we should use more images than text on mobile screens using the correct images to represent each section or button. I' going to keep doing usability test and I'm sure I will be updating this case once a while.
